Comment by 'The TV Critic' on The River (ABC)

Damn you for your reasoned analysis! You are right that someone else might have put it together. Although the procedural structure and the Daddy-issues tone have me thinking it will be a happy ending. Though I suppose maybe they will decide to stay in the Amazon and look for more magic as a family or something.

And! The scene where the tree constantly rejected the teddy bear was pretty good. I didn't find room for it in my review, so I agree with you :-) Though the whole sucking the mum into the water stuff didn't make me happy.

I wish someone on TV would just turn around and freak out when weird things happen!

See I assumed that the footage was found and edited by somebody else. I don't think you can safely say that they made it out alive. Remember the movie Cloverfield? Could be the same kind of thing.

It was decent enough to watch for 6 more episodes. The dolls in the tree freaked me out.

Hey, good to hear from you. If the show were a musical all the time I wouldn't mind. I have a problem when the tone is very authentic one moment and then musical the next.

I find it a little disheartening that the show's characterization is lacking in episodes following this one but I hope that is only because there are so many and not because they decide to make them do crazy things to fit in the story.

I pretty sure that songs like the last one will be a frequent occurrence. Especially since Julia's husband is a Broadway actor himself, I find it especially odd they'd hire a professional Broadway actor to play that role unless they planned on stretching the singing from outside the Marilyn songs. I for one am fine with it because I'm a sucker for musicals and I have always been able to suspend disbelief when people start singing and no one reacts. I especially look forward to them if they are original songs like the majority of the numbers in the pilot were, if there is going to be a show like this original songs are the way to go because it serves the plot and it makes seem less that they are just singing just to sing.

Hey Robin,
As usual I found your review on point, although I have to disagree about the singing in the end. I found it a little charming, so I might enjoy this show.
The only thing is that this show went in step with everything I expected. Although the show is very well done, its nothing we haven't seen before. I don't expect this show to surprise me, but I suspect I wont be bored watching it.
Sadly, it wont inspire
As usual thanks for the forum

Comment by 'The TV Critic' on The Infestation Hypothesis

Amy wants some physical intimacy. So she asks Sheldon to kiss her "where" she has never been kissed before. She means not just on her lips. But the double meaning of "where" could mean a kiss in a physical location like Salt Lake City. Sheldon't literal, asexual mind went with a physical location.
