I haven't seen Alias or Fringe beyond the pilot, so that is pretty interesting to know. Although I'm not sure JJ Abrams had as much to do with the plotting of Lost's later seasons. But I take your point.

And certainly I have no problem with ideas being repeated. Obviously all story ideas come from other stories we've seen. I thought it was worth pointing out though because the similarities to both Buffy and Angel were standing out. And particularly because Angel was given it's final season in a similar manner to the way Dollhouse was. So it felt like he was reaching for a similar concept to help him wrap the story up.

It's certainly not a big deal and I didn't mark the show down for being derivative.

I understand the similarities between the Angel and DeWitt twists. Although, I'm not sure if that's necessarily a bad thing. Very few shows have plots that are original anymore. I can't blame Joss for reusing SOME ideas. Unlike JJ Abrams.

JJ Abrams and his three shows: LOST, Fringe, and Alias. In all three shows there are the following similarities:

Main Characters as kids: LOST- All the passengers were visited as kids by Jacob, therefore being destined to be passengers on the same flight. Fringe - Olivia and other kids were experminted on as kids to be superweapons and fight the upcoming war between the two parallel worlds. Alias - Sidney Bristow and other agents were programmed and trained as kids to grow up and be super agents.

Doppelgangers: LOST - John Lock as the evil Jacob. Fringe - Olivia's friend, Agent Francis, has an evil clone. Alias- Sidney's best friend also has an evil clone.

Parallel Universes/Realties: All three shows deal with different and/or parallel realities.

See? Yet LOST still remains one of the best shows on air even though it borrows a lot of its plot devices from Abrams' previous show Alias.

I loved the episode. It was like part The Matrix, part Twin Peaks (think Black Lodge in the series finale), and part Dollhouse. Some really great stuff going on.

I will get round to the reviewing ASAP. In that moment when Boyd said it I wondered if they had taken his ability to kill. It just seemed the logical answer if they were so unconcerned about him walking off with a gun. But that wouldn't be a very interesting mystery so now I don't know.

I know Topher can dig around inside the brain for various things but to remove an actual desire or emotion would seem somewhat difficult to buy. If they have erased some of Paul's memory, I would find it more believable and a lot more tragic.

What an amazing episode. I was wondering if anyone has any theory as to what Topher removed from Ballard in order for the doll architecture to work on him and bring him back alive? Could it be his love for Echo? Or maybe his desire to bring down the Dollhouse? I don't think it's the latter since everyone is now working together to bring down the dollhouse, including DeWitt.

Which brings me to the twist at the end with DeWitt. I thought they did an amazing job with that. They took the time to develop her new mean persona and it made the twist all that more effective but still believable.
