Episode 24 - TOW Barry And Mindy's Wedding
29 March 2012
Synopsis: Rachel attends Barry and Mindy’s wedding despite her fears about what people will think of her. Monica and Richard talk about their future and realise that Richard doesn’t want to have children. Meanwhile Joey needs to practise kissing men and Chandler meets a girl online who he quickly falls for.
The Good: This is a seminal episode. In episode one Rachel runs out on her wedding and here she returns to give perfect closure to that. She is excellent in confronting her past and Ross is funny and lovely to her with his support. Meanwhile Joey is great entertainment as he tries to kiss men and Chandler is excellent displaying genuine hope that he might have met the one. By Janice turning out to be the girl it gives a wonderful character moment for Chandler who has spent two years, not only rejecting her but hating himself for finding fault with women and being unable to commit to them. Finally there is Monica and Richard. Their relationship seems so real and the dilemma over children feels like such a sad and genuine end to their story. It is another fine turn from Tom Selleck and a sad end for Monica as she won’t get another story as good as this for the rest of Friends existence. This episode is the ultimate example of how to write sit com characters and there are plenty of good jokes throughout. All in all, the best Friends episode ever made.
The Bad: I have no complaints.
Best Line: (Rachel walks in in her hideous pink bridesmaid outfit with a hat on) (C) “I’m sorry, we don’t have your sheep.” (J) “Oh Rach, I think you look cute. (To Ross) And you, you I could eat with a spoon.” (Ro) “Get away from me I said no!”
Best Friend: Monica
