Episode 20 - TOW Old Yeller Dies

Synopsis: Monica is a little jealous when Richard starts spending time with Joey and Chandler. Ross takes Ben for the whole weekend and tells Rachel of the life he can imagine having with her. Phoebe begins re-watching movies which her Mum had always stopped before the sad endings.
The Good: Ross and Rachel develop their relationship in a pleasant way by saying I love you for the first time. Ross’ excitement at Ben’s first words is also nice. This is not a bad episode at all; it’s just predictable and not very funny. In some ways this episode is the calm before the storm. For one of the last few episodes we can see this seasons two main relationships in a happy state. The best moment in the episode is Joey telling Richard he sees him as a Dad. It’s a sad reminder of why he won’t last as Monica’s man.
The Bad: But Joey and Chandler trying to back down from that moment is silly and unconvincing. Ben finally speaking is predictable and Phoebe’s movie plot is completely irrelevant and doesn’t end in a satisfying way.
Best Line: (M – on phone) “Hey, have you guys eaten? Coz Richard and I just finished and we have leftovers. Chicken and potatoes. What am I wearing? Actually nothing but rubber gloves.”
(C and J burst in holding the phone) (J) “You know, one of these times you’re gonna really be naked and we’re not gonna come over.”
(M) “Alright I’ve got a leg, three breasts and a wing.”
(C) “Well how do you find clothes that fit?”
