Episode 9 - TOW Phoebe's Dad

29 March 2012

Synopsis: Phoebe discovers that her grandmother has been lying about her father’s whereabouts. It turns out he actually lives in New York state. Ross pushes Rachel to make a list of things that she doesn’t like about him and is upset by the results. Monica has a Christmas party but the radiator breaks and her apartment becomes boiling hot.

The Good: Phoebe is sweet in her story and it makes sense that she wouldn’t be ready to talk to her father after such a long time. Chandler and Joey are fine in their supporting roles. Monica, Rachel and Ross all have their nice moments back at the party. There is some good characterisation of Ross being obsessive and a fun cameo from Mr Treeger.

The Bad: The party story feels insignificant and doesn’t generate many laughs. Phoebe looks like a bit of an idiot for believing the frame pictures were really her Dad but it is not too bad an idea.

Best Line: (C – enters the apartment) “Ho ho ho holy crap is it hot in here?!”

Best Friend: Phoebe
