Episode 8 - TOW The Thanksgiving Flashbacks

Synopsis: After thanksgiving dinner the friends begin to remember their worst thanksgivings. This leads to several flashbacks including the first time that Chandler and Monica met and he called her fat.
The Good: This is a really good concept episode and it is well executed. Joey is very funny with the turkey on his head. The 80s style conversations that Ross and Chandler and then Monica and Rachel have are funny and very well performed. The continued story of how Chandler offended Monica and then the follow up is a clever idea. And the writers don’t miss a trick by throwing in Ross being obsessed with Rachel for good measure.
The Bad: However there are several problems here. I will try to ignore the fact that no one has mentioned these incidents before (and we have seen Chandler bare foot before). But why does Chandler get so upset with Monica? Her dropping the knife on his toe was obviously an accident and nothing to do with her wanting revenge. I know it brings up bad memories for him but it is a little odd. Also would sensible Monica really have gone out and bought another turkey and put it on her head? Is that even possible? Also Phoebe’s flashbacks are ridiculous and not funny.
Best Line: (Ro) “So uh Rach, does it feel weird around here now, you know since I’ve been away at college?”
(Ra) “Oh no not really.”
(Ro) “Well that’s cool. So…(Ra walks away)”
(C) “So that’s Rachel huh, the girl you’ve been writing all those songs about?”
(Ro) “Yeah.”
(C) “You might wanna rethink the lyrics to ‘She feels weird since I’ve been gone.’ ”
