Episode 22 - TOW The Ick Factor
29 March 2012
Synopsis: Monica is dating a younger guy, Ethan, who turns out to be even younger than he said. Ross has a pager and is waiting for Carol to go into labour but keeps getting messages from a different number. Phoebe covers for Chandler’s assistant for a couple of weeks and discovers that no one in the office likes Chandler now that he is the boss. Rachel has sex dreams about the guys.
The Good: As you can tell from the length of the synopsis there is a lot in this episode. Fortunately that is a good thing, several good stories and lots of good jokes. Ross is fantastic throughout, both his jealousy of the other guys and his realisation he is going to be a father. The Chandler and Phoebe story is also excellent. Again the writers are spot on showing what happens to friendships at work within a hierarchy. Monica is great, as is Ethan in their sweet storyline. Phoebe is also funny and entertaining throughout, her eccentricity is very enjoyable here.
The Bad: I suppose with so much packed into one episode none of the plots really grab you with their emotion or humour. But then not every episode can be a classic, especially when they are as good as this anyway. It is a very difficult choice between Chandler and Ross for Best Friend in this episode.
Best Line: (C) “Oh come on you told me about the last dream.” (Ra) “No, forget it!” (C) “Well why not? Was I doing something particularly saucy?” (Ra) “Alright fine. Well you were not the only one there. Joey was there too.” (J) “Alright.” (Ro) “Was there, huh, anybody, anybody else there?” (Ra) “No.” (Ro) “You sure? Nobody handing out mints or anything?”
Best Friend: Ross
