Episode 19 - TOW The Monkey Gets Away

Synopsis: Rachel learns that Barrie and Mindy are getting married. Then she agrees to look after Marcel for Ross but he escapes.
The Good: The fact that the synopsis is so short is a very good thing. Rather than trying to force two pointless sub plots on to this story, the writers simply find things for the other characters to do. And it works well, Phoebe is ok, her strange comments fit her character’s scattiness and interestingly it is Joey who screws things up with the two women he and Chandler meet. Ross and Rachel advance the heat between them by arguing over Marcel and the episode is funny throughout.
The Bad: The arguing between Rachel and Ross is a little dangerous character-wise. He seems to get angry at her far too quickly for the mistake she has made. Then he falls into the trap of treating Rachel as Monica does, implying that she is consistently irresponsible. She may be, but should her potential boyfriend treat her like that?
Best Line:
(Ra) “What are we going to do?”
(J) “Alright alright, you’re a monkey, you’re loose in the city. Where do you go?”
(C) “Ok, it’s his first time out so he’s probably gonna wanna do some of the touristy things. I’ll go to Cats, you go to the Russian Tea Room.”
