Episode 1 - TOA “I Do”

25 March 2012

Synopsis: Phoebe covers for Rachel but eventually Monica discovers that she is pregnant. Ross tries to impress a woman at the reception and Joey tries to impress a Broadway producer.

The Good: All credit to Rachel who holds this together with some excellent acting. She shows a full and convincing range of emotions for her predicament. Ross does his best to make his passes at Mona funny and Joey has the odd moment.

The Bad: No one brings up the fact that Chandler only stopped running away from the wedding when he found out Monica was pregnant. You’d think that might be a bit of an issue. Phoebe is ok but she is asked to act like an idiot as usual with the silly idea that she is the one who is pregnant. Chandler not being able to dance, Joey having small feet and Ross acting like a fool all remind you of how bad the writers have become. But the episode is based around Rachel’s pregnancy and to that extent does its job.

Best Line: (Ra) “It’s negative?”
(P) “No it’s positive.”
(Ra) “What?”
(P) “It’s not negative, it’s positive.”
(Ra) “Are you sure?”
(P) “Well yeah I lied before. (Ra and M make shocked but happy noises) Now you know how you really feel about it.”
(Ra) “Ohhhh that’s a risky little game.”

Best Friend: Rachel
