Episode 16 - TOW Joey Tells Rachel

25 March 2012

Synopsis: Ross tells Joey to tell Rachel how he feels and so he does. Phoebe thinks she has met Monica’s soul-mate causing Chandler to feel insecure.

The Good: Joey, Rachel and Ross do the serious acting well here. Rachel stands out particularly, moving from comedy to drama acting with ease. The plot is handled well and all three come out looking like good friends. The writers make it clear why Doug and Monica would get on so well and her reassurance of Chandler is nice.

The Bad: Chandler’s hair looks awful. And his insecurity is handled with now typically unsubtle and humourless banter. Phoebe appears unkind and unhelpful to him as well. Not an episode designed for laughs and the writers should have just left some jokes out instead of trying to make fun out of serious scenes.

Best Line: (M) “Phoebe, good work.”
(P) “Yeah?”
(P) “Doug is great, I love him.”
(P to C) “Don’t worry, we’ll find you someone else.”

Best Friend: Joey
