Episode 10 - TOW Monica's Boots

Synopsis: Monica buys very expensive boots but they hurt her feet. Phoebe discovers that Sting’s son is in Ben’s class at school and tries to convince Ross to get her some concert tickets. Joey brings his sister Dina to see Rachel and soon finds out that she is pregnant.
The Good: The occasional line from Phoebe, Joey or Rachel is ok.
The Bad: Other than that this is a dull, poorly thought out episode with no laughs. Phoebe is unpleasant to everyone throughout, especially Ross. Her quest for Sting tickets is such a pointless plot which goes nowhere and just makes her seem as unlikeable and selfish a character as she has ever been. The Joey, Rachel and Dina plot is equally pointless. There is no real character development as Joey goes from being angry at his sister to accepting the situation pretty quickly. We also know by now that there will be no follow up on this story, so there is no reason to care. The writing of these scenes is very unsophisticated as well. Jokes are forced into the dialogue at gun point especially when everyone just humiliates poor Bobby for no good reason. Monica trying to cover for her mistake over the boots is the most logical story of the three but it doesn’t go anywhere and there are almost no laughs to be had. It’s pretty much – buy the boots, in pain, hide from Chandler, get caught, the end. Yes it is as dull as it sounds.
Best Line: (P) “How will I get in touch with them?”
(Ben’s Teacher) “Oh their number’s on the contact sheet.”
(P) “Uh uh, um, could I get a copy of that? Because Carol through it out, she lost ours. She’s such a scatter brain. But man what a hot piece of ass.”
