Episode 20 - TOW The Baby Shower

25 March 2012

Synopsis: Monica and Phoebe forget to invite Rachel’s mum to her baby shower. When she arrives she offers to live with Rachel and Ross to help with the baby. Meanwhile Joey gets the guys to help him practise for the role of host on a new game show.

The Good: Rachel being overwhelmed by her lack of knowledge is very well presented. It suits her spoilt girl character and Ross reassuring her is a nice reminder of how good a character he can be. Rachel’s mum is very good in her role, both caring and overbearing. Bamboozle, the quiz game Joey is auditioning for creates some nice moments for Ross and Joey to be funny.

The Bad: Monica going into spasms of guilt over not inviting Rachel’s mum is an ok idea, but her desperate sucking up is unsubtle and not funny. The Bamboozle plot is completely irrelevant and finishes in typically unimaginative fashion. Chandler also comes across as unlikeable and argumentative which has never been who he is.

Best Line: (J) “Alright, Chandler you can either spin the wheel or pick a Google card?”
(C) “Let me think, let me think. Oh, I don’t care.”
(J) “You must choose Mr Bing.”
(C) “Either it makes no difference.”
(J) “Choose! You Jackass!”

Best Friend: Ross
