Episode 6 - TOW The Halloween Party

25 March 2012

Synopsis: Monica and Chandler host a Halloween costume party. Rachel hands out candy at the door but rapidly learns she doesn’t know how to deal with children. Ross and Chandler arm wrestle to discover who is stronger and Phoebe warns Ursula’s fiancée off marrying her.

The Good: A really fun episode throughout. Sean Penn is an excellent guest star as Ursula’s fiancée and it is nice to see Phoebe be a proper good guy for once rather than just mocking everyone else. Joey is really funny as he moves from conversation to conversation adding his blunt enthusiasm for all topics and his strange impersonation of Chandler is oddly fitting. Chandler and Ross make the most of their silly fight and their even sillier costumes. Rachel being unable to handle children suits her character and creates the odd laugh.

The Bad: Having all the characters together to play off one another is so often the recipe for a funny show. This is no exception even though having the friends dress up and fight each other is a very cheap way of getting a laugh. But at this stage in the series this is a welcome injection of good comedy.

Best Line: (Mona) “You guys could arm wrestle.”
(J) “Yeah, listen to the slutty nurse.”
(C) “You’re going down.”
(Ro) “Oh yeah you’re going further down, down town.”
(J) “Seriously guys the trash talk is embarrassing.”

Best Friend: Joey
