Episode 2 - TOW The Red Sweater

25 March 2012

Synopsis: Rachel won’t tell anyone who the father of her baby is but Joey figures out that it must be the owner of a red sweater he found in the apartment. Joey proposes to both Phoebe and then Rachel when he thinks they are going to be single mothers. Meanwhile Monica opens all the wedding presents without Chandler and he and Ross can’t find the disposable cameras from the reception and so fake as many pictures as they can.

The Good: As silly as it is the Ross and Chandler plot is a nice idea, though they don’t make as much of it as they could have. Joey is funny with his proposals and they use Tag in a nice cameo. Plus they weave in a nice joke that Joey went to everyone’s rooms ordering porn and eating Mashuga nuts.

The Bad: Monica’s acting is really over the top and unbelievable. Ross and Chandler should have been more convincing in their belief that they had lost the cameras. When they show up in Chandler’s luggage they look even more stupid. Joey proposes to Phoebe and she says yes. There are no consequences to this act, it is forgotten even before the credits hit. It is an example of how little those two mean anymore. It is another reason why when Joey falls for Rachel and Phoebe gets married later in the show it is difficult to care - their characters have been treated like jokes for so long.

Best Line: (Ra) “Hey Joey, what would you do if someone that you slept with told you that she was pregnant?”
(J) “Who called here? Did she sound blonde? Did she have an accent? I’ve gotta make a call, I should never have walked into that sun glass hut!”

Best Friend: Joey
