Episode 17 - TOW The Tea Leaves

25 March 2012

Synopsis: Rachel makes up a work problem so that she and Joey have something to talk about. Ross goes back to Mona’s to find his favourite pink shirt. Meanwhile Phoebe reads the tea leaves and it says she will find her dream guy but instead she ends up with a creep.

The Good: Ross is funny and entertaining as he crawls around Mona’s apartment. There is the odd line here and there that is funny.

The Bad: The best idea Rachel could come up with was that her boss wanted to buy her baby. Well that could be funny despite how stupid it is. But it isn’t, the writers don’t bother creating anything funny for her boss to do so the story fizzles out. Meanwhile Phoebe’s date with the creep is just cheap television. He is there just to crack a few bad jokes. Throughout the entire episode people take shots at Chandler, who is portrayed as a big loser. As bad as that is, they could have at least taken a shot at his hair which still looks awful.

Best Line: (Creepy guy) “I write erotic novels, for children.”
(P) “What?”
(CG) “They’re wildly unpopular.”
(P) “Oh my God.”
(CG) “Also, you might be interested to know that I have a PHD.”
(P) “Wow, you do?”
(CG) “Yeah, a Pretty Huge…”

Best Friend: Ross
