Episode 24 - TOI Barbados (2)

20 January 2009

Synopsis: Charlie breaks up with Joey and while she kisses Ross, Joey ends up with Rachel. Mike returns and Phoebe breaks up with David to be with him. Monica and Mike then play table tennis and are both very competitive.

The Good: After all the build up in the last two seasons it is nice to see Rachel and Joey kiss. He is sweet and she is likeable and the visual gag of him falling into the room is good.

The Bad: There is not a drop of subtlety in this two-parter. The whole couple switch was obvious from the start and so Ross and Charlie getting together is no surprise. She just doesn’t project an entertaining personality so she is not much fun to watch. Monica’s hair is a cheap visual joke and once you get beyond that she just gets made fun of by everyone in mean ways. The table tennis scene seems to go on for ever without making a point about either couple. Except that Phoebe forgets about David really quickly and even though she and Mike have only just got back together they are happy to spend hours playing ping pong. A really pointless side plot in a predictable dull season finale.

Best Line: (Mike) “Phoebe will you marry me?”
(P) “No.”
(David) “Um, ha ha.”

Best Friend: Joey
