Episode 23 - TOI Barbados (1)

25 March 2012

Synopsis: The friends and Charlie and David all head to Barbados for Ross’ conference. Ross loses his speech when his computer crashes and spends the evening with Charlie recreating it. So to pass the time Joey and Rachel hang out and get close. Meanwhile David plans to propose to Phoebe even though she is not over Mike.

The Good: There is plenty going on here to distract from the lack of substance. Ross is fun to watch as he signs autographs, loses his speech and flirts with Charlie. Joey and Rachel show off a nice chemistry together and Chandler even cracks the odd good joke. But David is the one who stands out with his entertaining and sympathetic delivery, it’s sad that he is the fall guy for the much duller Mike.

The Bad: Monica treats Chandler like a child which is demeaning. Of course he is written to act like one when being unhelpful to David in a way that doesn’t feel like him at all.

Best Line: (C) “Isn’t an engagement ring supposed to have a diamond? Oh there it is.”
(David) “Yes well being a failed scientist doesn’t pay quite as well as you might think. That’s one seventieth of a carrot. And the clarity is...is quite poor.”

Best Friend: Chandler
