Episode 21 - TOW The Fertility Test

20 January 2009

Synopsis: Chandler and Monica go for a fertility test. Rachel discovers that Phoebe works for a massage chain which she proclaimed to hate. Ross helps Joey impress Charlie with his knowledge of art.

The Good: The odd Joey or Rachel line.

The Bad: Three meandering, uninteresting, humourless plots. Joey memorising things he knows nothing about is pretty bad but not as stupid as mistaking left and right. Again the writers make him implausibly stupid because they are too lazy to write a better story. Similarly Phoebe is upset to admit to Rachel that she has sold out her principles. What principles? This is a character who routinely slags people off, lies and only cares about herself. Then there is Monica and Chandler who roll through some lame jokes about cups, even throwing Janice in there doesn’t make this funny or interesting. The news that they are unlikely to have children doesn’t really have as much impact as it should. It falls flat because instead of building up a serious story the writers have wasted time making jokes that weren’t funny.

Best Line: (J – enjoying wine he has poured from a huge container) “Who says wine has to cost more than milk?”

Best Friend: Joey
