Review
Synopsis: Ross and Rachel wake up and realise they are married. Ross decides to not get an annulment because he doesn’t want a third failed marriage. Phoebe and Joey drive her taxi back to New York and he irritates her by falling asleep. Chandler and Monica realise they don’t want to get married but they do want to move in together. The Good: There is a clear purpose to this episode and the odd line is ok. The Bad: All three stories have flaws which make this pretty bad. The Phoebe and Joey story is pointless and Phoebe being drunk at breakfast is a typical bad writing shortcut. Monica and Chandler look like a bad couple for not being able to tell that they feel the same way about marriage. Why don’t they just talk about it instead of unconvincingly looking for signs? The Ross and Rachel plot is terrible. There is no excuse for writing that Ross would want to stay married and then deceive Rachel about it. It is totally out of his character and it is a completely irrational act for any of the friends’ characters. It is just beyond stupid writing. Best Line: (J) “What are you doing?” (C) “Key’s stuck in the lock.” (J) “I can fix it hold on. Watch out, watch out.” (J does something to the door. C tries it again) (C) “Yeah it still doesn’t work.” (J) “I’m not finished.” (J runs and smashes the door down.) (C) “Nice job Jo, you’re quite the craftsmen!” Best Friend: Chandler
