Episode 21 - TOW a Chick and a Duck
17 January 2009
Review
Synopsis: Ross gives up a chance to appear on TV to look after Rachel when she cracks a rib. Pete buys a restaurant and asks Monica to be the head chef. Joey buys a chick and Chandler buys a duck. The Good: Ross and Rachel are excellent here. They manage to show the flirty, fun side of their relationship which we haven’t seen enough of. It is a really nice character episode for them. Pete is good in his role; he has a very relaxed screen presence. The Bad: If you want to bring real life concerns into a sit com then you should not have the chick and the duck. There is no way they would be safe or sanitary in a New York apartment. But that wouldn’t matter if they provided good jokes which here they don’t. It is equally ridiculous that Monica would have no attraction to Pete and then suddenly like him after one kiss. It just smacks of the writers not thinking too much about how to get them together. It’s not a very funny episode either. Best Line: (M) “This has been like my dream since I got my first Easy-Bake Oven and opened Easy Monica’s Bakery.” Best Friend: Ross
