Episode 11 - TOW All The Cheesecakes
19 January 2009
Review
Synopsis: Phoebe scolds Joey for cancelling dinner with her for a date. But then she has to cancel with him when David returns to town. Monica is angered when she isn’t invited to her cousins wedding. So she goes as Ross’ plus one to confront her. Rachel and Chandler start eating their neighbour’s cheesecake because it is so delicious. The Good: This is a fun episode although it is pretty inconsequential. Phoebe and David are good together albeit briefly and Joey is funny as ever in his role. Ross and Monica are also fun in their plot even though it doesn’t amount to much. Chandler and Rachel allow their greed to overcome their morality to good comic effect. We don’t often see them together in a plot so it is a rare dynamic to enjoy. The Bad: The Phoebe and Joey story seems a waste. The story spends loads of time on them and their relationship before giving poor David about five minutes. It’s a strange rationing of time as he is presented as her long lost love but not given any time to show why. Similarly Ross and Monica build up to the confrontation with their cousin only for her husband to have once been dating Monica. Big deal! Who cares? And finally Chandler and Rachel’s plot is as frivolous as they come. A strangely laid back episode. One to definitely turn off your brain and enjoy. Best Line: (C) “Well thank you for lunch.” (Ra) “Wait a minute I didn’t pay. I thought you paid?” (C) “So apparently we just don’t pay for food any more.” Best Friend: Phoebe
