Episode 11 - TOW Chandler Can't Remember Which Sister

17 January 2009

Review

Synopsis: Depressed about his break-up with Janice, Chandler gets drunk at a party and kisses Joey’s sister. He can’t remember which one though. A stranger offers Rachel a job interview and Ross becomes jealous as he thinks the man is after something else.

The Good: Chandler has most of the good lines and is passable at playing drunk. He is put in an amusingly awkward position when round at the Tribbiani house. Ross and Rachel are also good. Mark’s offer of help is a realistic way to cause their first real issue as a couple. It would make sense that having got his dream girl, Ross would be a bit possessive of her. The plot with the man making noise in the apartment upstairs provides some obvious jokes.

The Bad: However the apartment upstairs is never seen or heard from again which hurts the credibility of the story. Also there are double standards aplenty from Joey here. They may actually reflect real life rather well but it is worth pointing them out. His character is as promiscuous as it comes, but when Chandler merely fools around with his sister he gets angry enough to want to hit him. Then the guy upstairs apparently deserves an ass kicking just for not wanting to be exclusive with Phoebe, something Joey does all the time. Chandler’s acting is quite over the top at times. Not huge problems though, a solid episode of comedy.

Best Line: (C) “Vernoica! Look it’s gotta be Veronica, the girl in the red skirt, I definitely stuck my tongue down her throat.”
(M) “That was me.”
(C) “Look when I’ve been drinking sometimes I tend to get a little overly friendly and I’m sorry.”
(M) “That’s ok.”
(R) “That’s alright.”
(P) “That’s alright.”
(Ro) “That’s ok.”

Best Friend: Chandler

  • Joey should be credited with coming up with not "double standards" more like, "triple standards". He has a different set of rules for himself and the rest of the world. Dislike his character thoroughly throughout the seasons!
