Episode 12 - TOW Phoebe's Wedding

20 January 2009

Review

Synopsis: Phoebe and Mike get married in the snow. 30 minutes of problems to overcome and sentimental shows of friendship.

The Good: There are a few moments of genuine affection which are nice. The guys all camp up their characters to try and make this funny.

The Bad: But it isn’t. Stupid plots don’t matter in a sit com if you are really laughing but here there is nothing. Monica being horrible to Phoebe because she is such a control freak doesn’t fit who Monica is; it just fits the crappy joke stereotype they have made her. Surely she would perceive her friends’ unhappiness. Ross and Chandler attacking Phoebe for not letting them be in the wedding, Joey acting like Phoebe’s Dad – it’s all stupid. Then there is Mike. There is nothing wrong with the performance but there just doesn’t seem to be any reason why he is the right man for Phoebe.

Best Line: (Mike) “Thanks for coming you guys.” (Mi hugs Ro)
(Ro) “I uh I was going for a handshake.”
(Mi) “Is that why your hand is pressed against my crotch?”
(Ro) “That is why.”

Best Friend: Joey

  • Why isn't Phoebe's birth mom at the wedding? What about her real father? It was never explained whether she forgives him or not! Why are Frank Jr. and Alice not at the wedding and if anyone should give Phoebe away(since the writers didn't remember her birth mom or her real father) should have been Frank Jr.

  • Why isn't Phoebe's birth mom in the wedding? It is never clear whether Phoebe continues to see her real dad, Frank Buffay or not? This episode was irritating except for Chandler "figure skating team" and Paul Rudd.
