Review
Synopsis: Janice asks if any of the friends have ever hooked up and we see what their lives were like three years before. Phoebe is sick of living with Monica and wants to leave. Chandler is looking for a new roommate and Ross discovers that Carol is a lesbian. The Good: A great idea for an episode and expertly delivered. There are three great comedic scenes: Chandler overhears Rachel saying she wants to have a fling, Ross and Phoebe fool around on the pool table and Joey thinks Monica wants to have sex with him. All full of great visual and character jokes. Then there is the nice use of Heckles and lots of references to things which the audience know about from the future. In between the good jokes there are nice character moments with Phoebe telling Monica she doesn’t want to live with her, Chandler and Joey bonding and Chandler comforting Monica. The writers do not miss a trick and manage to cram in so much in a short space of time. The Bad: We will ignore the convenience of all the friends being in the same place at the same time and all fooling around in the same couple of days. Best Line: (Ro) “I’m an idiot. I should have seen it. I mean Carol and I would be out and she’d see some beautiful woman and she’d be - Ross look at her. And I’d think: God my wife is cool.” Best Friend: Chandler
