Review
Synopsis: Joey suggests a game of football while the Thanksgiving meal is cooking. This leads to the revival of old tensions between Ross and Monica. They captain the teams while Joey and Chandler fight over the attentions of a Dutch girl. The Good: This is one of the most popular episodes of Friends and it is easy to see why. The football game allows some nice visual jokes as well as a clear simple plot. The real joy here is that all six characters are utilised beautifully. Ross and Monica are very believable as battling siblings. Joey and Chandler’s conflict over the girl suits their personalities. These combine with Phoebe’s excitement and Rachel’s resentment of the game to let all six personalities shine. There are such a diverse number of jokes on display that almost everyone will find this funny. The Bad: Chandler overacts a little. Best Line: (C rips J’s shirt) (J) “What the hell’s the matter with you. This is my favourite jersey.”
