Episode 16 - TOW The Morning After (2)

Review
Synopsis: Ross tries to stop Rachel finding out about his night with the Xerox girl. But she does and they end up having a very long conversation as they break up. Meanwhile the other friends get trapped in Monica’s room, trying not to let Ross and Rachel know that they can hear them. The Good: This is a very serious episode and so it is difficult to judge by normal sit com criteria. Ross and Rachel are both magnificent in their roles and their break-up feels all too real and sad. It was a decent idea to have the other friends involved as they might have distracted from the main plot if they had been off having their own stories. They provide the occasional moment of light relief. The Bad: Not too much. The lack of humour is understandable as it would have detracted from the very serious scenes. Ross comes across as very aggressive in the break-up with Rachel, constantly raising his voice and asking questions of her. It’s not a bad thing but it makes nonsense of how his character goes on to be treated in later series, where he comes off as a wimpy fool at times. Best Line: (P) “We could eat the wax, it’s organic.” (C) “Oh great, food with hair on it.” (P) “No not the used wax.” (C) “Because that would be crazy?” Best Friend: Ross
