Review
Synopsis: Monica makes Rachel and Phoebe choose who will be her maid of honour. She also worries that Chandler might break up with her one day if she puts on weight. Meanwhile Ross and Joey discover that they enjoy napping together. The Good: This is a lot of fun. The plots are very unreal but they are exactly what a sit com should be. Both Rachel becoming maid of honour and Chandler explaining the depth of his love are done really well and don’t become cheesy. All the actors shine in this one, Chandler is actually funny for once, though without any subtlety. Meanwhile Ross and Joey camp it up all the way in their ridiculous story, but they make it funny and the last scene where they are discovered is excellent. The Bad: Obviously Ross and Joey napping together is very silly. As is the idea that best friends would bicker and compete to become maid of honour. But neither matters in this episode. One problem though is that when Chandler tells his ex that he broke up with her because she was fat, she didn’t know. So what did she think the reason was? She doesn’t look upset enough for the joke to work the way I think they wanted it to. Best Line: (M) “Who is she?”
(C) “Julie Graff, my camp girlfriend.”
(M) “Did you break up with her?”
(C) “No, we’re still together.” Best Friend: Rachel
