Episode 11 - TOW The Stripper Cries

20 January 2009

Review

Synopsis: Phoebe wants a stripper at her bachelorette party but as they order at the last minute they get a short old man instead (Danny Devito). Joey is on the game show Pyramid but his ineptitude costs the contestants their chance of winning. Meanwhile Chandler and Ross go to a college reunion and remember how they both broke their pacts over girls they wouldn’t date.

The Good: The recreation of Chandler and Ross’ college days is a good idea as there are plenty of cheap laughs to be had. Ross and Chandler play off each other well. Their back story adds a degree of reality to what occurs. Rachel and Monica also play their roles well and the revelations at the end are good for a very cheap laugh. Joey is endearing in his role if nothing else. Phoebe being nice to the stripper is good and is a nice happy ending to the story.

The Bad: The flashback sequences do stretch credibility further as no one has brought up these incidents in ten years. There is also the incredibly cheap nature of the jokes which humiliate characters for not much reward. Phoebe is a little too mean to the stripper but otherwise is fine. The Joey plot should have just gone through with the happy ending; there seemed no point in leaving things as they ended. Overall the good just outweighs the bad in an action-packed episode.

Best Line: (Ro) “Well then who was on my bed?”
(M) “Oh oh oh!”
(Ro) “No no no!”
(M) “Yes!”
(Ro) “You were under the pile of coats?”
(M) “I was the pile of coats!”
(Ro) “Oh my God!”
(M) “You were my midnight mystery kisser!”
(Ro) “You were my first kiss with Rachel!”
(M) “You were my first kiss ever!”
(C) “What did I marry into?”

Best Friend: Chandler

  • Joey is endearing in not being able to give clues on the game show? What is endearing about that? He was irritating to say the least! Again and again the show brings out the dumbness and single minded fondness for food (stolen from Chandler) and sex(sleeping with them and then not calling them back!) His role is the cheapest!
